With the exhibition URLO. Urban Vibrations, Andrea Sampaolo traverses the urban space of Rome and makes it resonate. The project represents the culmination of a blend of artistic languages that have always defined the creative journey of the Roman artist: street art, urban art, writing, graffiti, muralism, and the culture of Hip Hop—codes rooted in the underground galaxy. In URLO, these elements serve a more nuanced exploration of the relationship between the individual and the world.
This rich and complex language, which has its origins in the Brooklyn of the 1970s—'a place that roared back through grassroots cultural regeneration'—remains, for Sampaolo, a powerful means of addressing social, economic, and existential distress today.
